The Veterinary Technician National Examination (VTNE) is used to evaluate entry-level veterinary technicians’ competency to practice and to be credentialed. It is available in three testing windows a year and is constantly updated. It is administered by the American Association of Veterinary State Boards (AAVSB) through PSI at testing centers throughout the U.S and Canada.

The VTNE examination is a three hour long exam of 170 multiple-choice questions (150 scored). It covers:
  • 9 primary areas of responsibility
  • 38 Task Area Statements
  • 50 Knowledge Area Statements
