The Massage & Bodywork Licensing Examination (MBLEx) is designed as a standard examination for students of Massage for entry-level professional scope of practice in gaining licensure. MBLEx is administered on a daily basis, year-round at Person VUE test sites across the United States. The fee is $195. If you fail you’ll have to re-apply and pay the fees again. You must complete the exam within 90 days of paying your fees.

The exam consists of 100 multiple-choice questions. It takes two hours to complete and there are no scheduled breaks. If you do take a break, the time will continue to run.

  • Anatomy & Physiology – 12 %
  • Kinesiology – 11%
  • Pathology, Contraindications, Areas of Caution, Special Populations – 13%
  • Benefits and Physiological Effects of Techniques that Manipulate Soft Tissues – 14%
  • Client Assessment, Reassessment & Treatment Planning – 17%
  • Overview of Massage & Bodywork Modalities/Culture/History – 5%
  • Ethics, Boundaries, Laws, Regulations – 15%
  • Guidelines for Professional Practice – 13%
