The National Evaluation Series (NES) tests are aligned to professionally accepted national subject and pedagogy standards. More than 400 expert, respected teachers, administrators, and teacher educators from across the country have participated in an extensive review of the content and appropriateness of the test competencies and questions.

The tests cover subjects ranging from essential academic skills in reading, writing, mathematics, and technology literacy to emerging needs in elementary reading instruction and teaching English to speakers of other languages.

A nationwide network of conveniently located secure, professional testing centers allows both in-state and out-of-state applicants to complete the testing required for certification.

Educator certification requirements vary from state to state. NES tests are taken by individuals pursuing certification as entry-level teachers. Please contact the state agency responsible for educator certification in your state for more information.
