Florida Teacher Certification Examinations (FTCE) are standardized tests used to assess the competencies of prospective teachers according to Florida’s Sunshine State Standards. FTCE is a battery of three tests with each test varying anywhere from 40 – 225 questions. You will take all three on the same day (usually a Saturday). In order to receive a passing score and your Florida teacher certificate, you will need to answer 60-70% of the questions correctly. The FTCE is available year round by appointment, Monday through Saturday (excluding holidays) at Pearson VUE testing facilities.

The three tests are divided into the following categories:
  • Professional Education which consists of 120 questions on actual practices of teaching school classes and imparting knowledge and information to their students.
  • General knowledge test (formerly CLAST) which consists of the following
    • Math – 45 questions
